Box Score ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team (4-9) traveled to Pennsylvania to take on the Nazareth College Golden Flyers (6-3) in the Spooky Nook Tournament on Friday (Jan. 3). Gary Grant dropped 24 points and Miles Gillette recorded 22 to lead the Seahawks to an 89-77 victory.

Both squads exchanged blows early in the contest and sat at 8-8 four minutes into the opening half. Next, the Seahawks tallied five unanswered points to pull out to a 13-8 lead, their largest of the half. Albert Scott netted two points during the run and Grant recorded three.

Minutes later, Nazareth strung together 12 straight points to take a 20-13 advantage over St. Mary's College. The Seahawks battled back with five minutes remaining in the first by creating a seven point run, their largest of the half. Grant and Justin Milstead sunk shots to bring the Seahawks within one during the run. St. Mary's College finished the half strong with three points between Milstead and Grant to head into the locker rooms with a 42-37 lead.

The Seahawks held their lead for the entire second half, but the Golden Flyers made some noise early in the segment with a seven point run, cutting the Seahawk lead to 50-44.

Later in the second, the Seahawks began to pull away from the Golden Flyers with a 10-point run to take a 13 point advantage with 5:40 remaining. Jack Foley, Grant, Scott, Gillette, and Jalen Hayes notched scores during the run. From there, the Seahawks managed to keep their lead out of reach and cruised to the 89-77 victory.

Grant continued his impressive first-year campaign by leading the Seahawks on the offensive end, notching a team-best 24 points. Gillette had a dominant performance on both ends of the floor, knocking down 22 points and collecting 17 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Milstead finished with 13 points and Hayes collected 12, respectively.

Foley finished the evening by reaching double-digits in rebounds with 10. Additionally, Foley tallied two blocks. Grant led the Seahawks with two steals while also recording eight rebounds.

As a team, St. Mary's College scored 62 points in the paint, 18 points off of fast breaks, and 51 bench points.

Stephen Gabel led the Golden Flyers with a double-double, tallying 17 points and 12 rebounds.
