Athletic Accomplishments:

Basketball: Erica was a four-yearstarter and letter-winner in basketball. She led her team to anoverall record of 63-43, including the first two 20-win seasons inthe program’s history during her junior and senior years. Herteam also claimed its first two Capital Athletic Conference (CAC)championships and first two NCAA Division III tourna­mentberths in school history. She was a three-time All-CAC performer;and a Kodak All-American Honorable Mention her senior year. At thetime of her induction, she still held ten school records forwomen’s basketball. As a first-year she was a CAC individualleader; third in rebounding (avg 10.5/game); and fifth in fieldgoal percentage (.471). As a sophomore, she was the leading scorer,averaged 11pts/game; led CAC in rebounds averaging 10.5 per game.Erica was also named to second team All-CAC and ranked in 4 CACcategories — 4th in rebounding, 5th in blocks, 6th in fieldgoal percentage, and 8th in steals. She led the team in scoringwith 321 pts, averaging 12.3 per game. She was also theteam’s MVP. As a junior, in January 1998, she ranked 19th innation in rebounding with an average of 11.5 rebounds per game. Shehelped the team win its first ever CAC tournament title and firstever berth to NCAA Division III women’s basketballtourna­ment. Erica set the school record for most wins in aseason (20-8). She was named first team All-CAC and led the team inscoring, rebounding, blocked shots, steals and field goalpercentages. As a senior, she was team captain. She started all 28games and led the team in scoring averaging 20.6 points per game;rebounding averaging 12.5 rebounds per game; field goal percentage(53.7%), steals (69), and blocked shots (49). Erica also led theteam in scoring 18 times her senior year. She was the top rebounder23 times and had 23 double-doubles. She was named first team,All-CAC and second team, All-Atlantic Regional Division IIIwomen’s basketball. The team won its second consecutive CACchampionship and went to the first round of the NCAA Division IIIwomen’s basketball tournament for the second consecutiveyear.

Volleyball: Erica was a three-yearstarter and two-time second team all-CAC selection in volleyball.She finished her senior season ranked in the top 20 in the nationin average blocks per game and helped the volleyball team to athird place CAC finish and high­est ever regional ranking of #7in the Mid-Atlantic Region. As a sophomore she led CAC for the mostindividual blocks (116). As a junior, she led CAC for blocks (146total blocks in 99 games played; 1.48 blocks/game). She was secondteam All-CAC and ranked 17th in nation in blocks, averaging 1.48blocks/game. As a senior, Erica was team captain. She was namedsecond team, All-CAC for the second consecutive season afterleading SMC and CAC in attack percentage (.355), total blocks(167), and blocks per game (1.505). She set a school single matchattack percentage record of 14 kills and zero errors in 18 attemptsfor a .778 attack percentage. She finished her collegiate career asthe school’s all-time block leader (458) and third on theall-time kills list with 609. She was also chosen St. Mary’sFemale Athlete of the Year. At the time of her induction, Ericaheld ten school women’s basketball records and, involleyball, was still ranked first in blocks (458) and sixth inkills (609) in the volleyball record book.

Most Memorable Sports Experience at St.Mary’s: 

Erica remembers playing in the NCAA Tournament,Midnight Madness and the long hours on buses and at practices whereshe and her teammates would bond.

Involvement in Sports Today:

“I love to play pickup volleyball on theNational Mall and am currently in a co-ed basket­ball league atmy gym. In addition, I’m hoping to coach again this year fora local girls’ basketball recreational league.”

Thoughts on St. Mary’sCollege:

“St. Mary’s is an amazing place that will alwayshold a special place in my heart. Since graduating, I joined thePeace Corps in Ecuador for two years, went on to get mymaster’s degree in public health, and am currently workingfor the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Throughoutthat time, St. Mary’s and the experiences I gained playingsports have served me well: coping with adversity and setbacks,working with teams, setting goals, and making the most of thelimited time we have.”
