TORI POFFENBERGER '16, MAT '17 concluded her lacrosse career as an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Assosiation (IWLCA) Division III All-American, earning a spot of the Second Team in 2016. She collected two IWLCA All-Chesapeake Region awards as well as three All-Capital Athletic Confrence (CAC) selections, picking up all-region and all-conference First Team honors as a senior.
A 5-6 midfielder for the Seahawks, she represented St. Mary's College as the nominee for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year. In addition, Tori was selected to play in the IWLCA Division III North/South Senior All-Star game.
She led the CAC in goals in back-to-back seasons after scoring 53 goals as a junior and putting up 46 in her final campaign as a Seahawk. The Sharpsburg, Md. native tallied her 150th career point on March 5th, 2016, following a four-point effort (3g, 1a).
A three-year team captain, Tori wrapped up her career with 148 goals and 48 assists for 196 points, ranking her in the Top 10 in both goals and points at the time of her graduation. She also tallied 109 ground balls, 54 caused turnovers, and 47 draw controls.
SMCM posted a four-year record of 45-10 (19-10 CAC), including a 29-9 (12-4 CAC) mark during her last two seasons. In 2016, St. Mary's College finished as the CAC Tournament runner-up and earned the program's eight bid to the NCAA Tournament.
During her senior season, Tori was a two-sport athlete as she captained the SMCM women's basketball team. She helped the Seahawks, as a guard, gain a berth in the CAC Tournament under former head coach and current Director of Athletics & Recreation Crystal Gibson.
LIFE AFTER SMCM:Â Tori currently lives in Fredonia, N.Y., with her husband, Mason Redmond '16, MAT '17, and their dog Cormac. For the past three years, she has served as the head women's lacrosse coach at SUNY Fredonia. In 2025, Fredonia registered their first winning record since 2015, earned a spot in the conference playoffs for the first time since 2015, and picked up their first All-Confeerence honors since 2017.
Her coaching career began at St. Mary's College in 2016-17 when Tori served as an assistant coach. She then coached at her high school alma mater, Boonsboro HS, for five years as the head coach of the varsity girls' lacrosse program and as an assistant coach for the varsity girls' basketball team. In 2022, Tori led the Warriors to the regional championship crown and a spot in the state semifinals.
She continues to play, participating three World Cup Festivals and currently plays in the ULAX lacrosse league in Buffalo, N.Y. Tori is also a member of The Wild Cards and competes in tournaments throughout the year.
