Most Memorable Sports Experience at St.Mary’s:
“The most memorable thing, for me, is that Iplayed in two different eras. I first played in the1960-61 and1971-72 seasons. The school was still a junior college at the time.I was 19-20 and single. Not a care in the world. Some 10 yearslater I played in the 1971-72 season. The school was now a fouryear college. I went back to school to get my degree so that Icould teach/coach. I was now 31 years old, married with twochildren, and my wife was expecting our third child. I was afulltime student, taking 15-16 hours a semester. I was also working40 hours a week to provide for my family. I was a student/athlete,a husband, a father, and a fulltime provider for my family. It waschallenging, to say the least, especially during basketball season. But it was a time that I won’t forget and I really enjoyedit.”
Since St. Mary’s:
“I have lived in St. Mary’s County all my life, except for a few years. I have always enjoyed school; high school, college, and later teaching/coaching. I coached basketball, baseball and soccer in high school. Today I am retired. I enjoy myfamily; my wife Sharon, of 42 years, my three children and fourgrandchildren. I’ve been a Little League coach for about 30years, first coaching my own children and now my grandson. I havehad a good life that has been built around church, family, work andsports. I don’t think there has ever a time in my life thatwas without sports."
