Athletic Accomplishments:

Jean received the College’s “Best AllAround” award in 1934. She participated in numer­oussports while a student at St. Mary’s Seminary Junior Collegeand is best known for introducing archery to St. Mary’sstudents.

Post-CollegiateAccomplishments:

Using bows and arrows her father made for her, Jean went on towin the Maryland State Archery Championship every year from1935-1938 and the Women’s National Archery Championship in1937 and 1938. In 1939, she was nominated Maryland IdealOutdoor Girl, cast in the film “Bow String,” andinducted into the American Archer Hall of Fame. She was inductedinto the Washington County, Maryland Sports Hall of Fame in 1987for archery. Jean served as President of the St. Mary’sAlumni Council from 1945-47. She was 86 and living in Salt LakeCity, Utah at the time of her death in October 2000.
