AthleticAccomplishments:
A two-sport athlete, Mia starred on both thewomen’s field hockey and lacrosse teams. She was a two-timeIntercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)All-American and three-time All-Region selection in lacrosse. Shealso helped lead the Seahawks to four consecutive NCAA Division IIIlacrosse tournament appearances and the Capital Athletic Conference(CAC) Championship in 2002. Mia became just the second Seahawk toearn All-Region honors in the history of the field hockey programand led St. Mary’s to its first ever back-to-back 10-winseasons in 2003 and 2004. A four time All-CAC honoree, in fieldhockey, she is tied for all-time lead in defensive saves (15),first in single-season defensive saves (12); and for first in gamesstarted and games played in a single season (19). KatieLange ‘06, the College’s current head fieldhockey coach, describes her former team mate as “one of themost feared defenders in lacrosse..and a defensive back with thebest stick skills I’ve ever seen in Division III fieldhockey.”
Career Highlights:
Field Hockey: As a first-year, Miawas second team, All-CAC. She was the first freshman MVP in schoolhistory and only the second rookie in Seahawk history to makeAll-CAC in field hockey. She was named to the All-Academic Team byboth the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and CAC.Mia was third in CAC in defensive saves (5) and helped St.Mary’s slash its goal-against total from 46 in ’99 toschool record low of 25. As a sophomore she was on the CACAll-Academic Team. In her junior year she was team captain and onthe NFHCA National Academic Squad. She led the team’s defenseand played and started in all 20 games. Mia finished third on teamin ground balls and second on team in caused turnovers. As a seniorshe was team captain. Mia was also a four-year letter- winner andplayed in every game in her collegiate career. In 2003 she wassecond team, NFHCA All-South Region. Mia was also named to theNFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, second team,STX/NFHCA Division III All-South Region, and first team, All-CAC.She anchored the Seahawks defensively her senior year and was theteam MVP.
Lacrosse: Mia was first team,All-CAC for 2002-04; second team, IWLCA All-Region for 2002; firstteam, IWLCA All-Region for 2003-04; second team, IWLCA All-Americanin 2003 and third team in 2004. She also played in the NCAADivision III North-South Senior All-Star Game. Mia received theCoaches’ Award and Athletic Director’s Award. She ledthe team in minutes played in a season; was second in ground balls(47) and caused turnovers (26).
Most Memorable Sports Experience at St.Mary’s:
“Winning the CAC tournie against MaryWashington in lax 2002 and going to the NCAA tournie.”
Most Missed:
“Playing on the crescent field, running inhistoric St. Mary’s, seeing my friends every day, sunset overthe water while running back from practice in the northfields.”

Since St. Mary’s:
“I am an RN at Johns Hopkins HospitalChildren’s Center. I am attending classes at Johns HopkinsSchool of Nursing to get my masters. I will graduate in December2010 as a primary care pediatric nurse practitioner. Married toColin Woods ’05 and we live in Federal Hill,Baltimore.”

“No, instead I run half marathons and havealso started doing triathlons including the Nations Tri inSeptember 2010.”
