AthleticAccomplishments:

Michael was goalie and member of the school’sfirst men’s varsity lacrosse team in 1973. He also was ascholar-athlete and letter-winner.

Coaching Accomplishments:

Michael was St. Mary’s assistant men’s lacrossecoach (1976-1978) under Coach John Sothoron (1997Hall of Famer). He took over in 1981 as head coach when John leftto coach at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1995, he and JohnSothoron were instrumen­tal in establishing youth lacrosse inSt. Mary’s County when they began the St. Mary’s YouthLacrosse Club (SMYLC). In 1997, he helped establish the Great Millsand Leon­ardtown Lacrosse Clubs and received St. Mary’sCounty Board of Education approval to add boys’ andgirls’ lacrosse to high school athletic programs. Asassistant varsity lacrosse coach at Great Mills High School in2000, he helped coach his team to its first South­ern MarylandAthletic Conference (SMAC) Lacrosse Championship that year. As headvarsity lacrosse coach at Leonardtown High School (2003-08),Michael led his team to four consecutive SMAC lacrossechampionships (2005-08) and the 2004 Maryland State Regional Final.He was chosen SMAC Coach of the Year for 2005 and 2006. AsVice-president of Southern Maryland Lacrosse (SOMDLAX), Mike ishelping to establish a non-profit high school summer and falllacrosse league.
