Hall of Fame
KHALID BALOGUN '25, along with fellow Hall of Fame inductee Juwan Kearson '20, helped to change the trajectory of the Seahawks men's soccer program, bringing the program into the regional and national spotlight.
Khalid is the program's only two-time All-American, landing on the Second Team both times in 2018 and 2019. He collected four All-South Atlantic Region awards, including First Team accolades as a junior and and senior.
As a rookie, the Bowie, Md. native was named the 2016 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Rookie of the Year. Khalid book-ended his career as the 2019 CAC Offensive Player of the Year. Additionally, he was a four-time First Team All-CAC selection.
Khalid fended his illustrious career ranked in the Top 5 all-time with 37 goals and 93 points while sitting eighth with 19 assists. The 6-4 forward led the conference in scoring in back-to-back seasons. In 2018 and 2019 with 12 and 16 goals, respectively. As a junior, he also led the league with seven assists.
SMCM posted a four-year record of 47-21-8 (22-8-3 CAC) with four consecutive winning seasons. In 2018, St. Mary's College finished as the CAC Tournament runner-up.
LIFE AFTER SMCM: Khalid had a brief stint in social work, attending to and assisting disenfranchised communities in Annapolis. He then continued to pursue his dream of playing professional soccer.
His journey began in 2019 when he joined FC Baltimore Christos of the National Premier Soccer Leauge (NPSL), the U.S. Adult Soccer Association Teir 1 national league.
He signed his first professional contract in May 2021 with Maryland Bobcats FC of the National Independent Soccer Association, one of the U.S. Soccer Federation Division III national leagues.
In January 2023, he made the move to USL League One side Lexington SC. Khalid joined USL Championship side Miami FC in June 2024 on loan from Lexington SC for the remainder of their season. The USL Leauge One is also part of the USSF Division III while the USL Championship of USSF Division II, the tier right below Major League Soccer.
He returned to the NPSL in February 2025 when he joined District Elite FC. This fall, Khalid is also serving as an assistant coach for the boys' varsity soccer team at his alma mater, Bowie HS.
Khalid cannot thank his experiences at St. Mary's College enough for preparing him npt only as an athlete but as a person.
